If you are in the market for a luxury vehicle that you can rely on for many years to come, there’s a good chance that the new Acura lineup has come up in your search. Acura vehicles have a reputation for style, performance, and dependability, making any vehicle in the lineup an excellent choice for Warwick drivers. Before you buy, though, you may be wondering who makes Acura cars, or perhaps you find yourself asking, “does Honda own Acura?” The answer is yes, Honda makes Acura vehicles. Let’s dive into the details!

Who Owns Acura & Is Acura Made By Honda?

Does Honda own Acura? Yes; Acura is made by Honda, which is the parent company of the popular luxury car brand. The Acura brand was introduced to the world in 1986, but when Honda brought its luxury line to the U.S., it was originally called Channel II. Today the Acura brand has gained as much popularity as the Honda brand, and it has generated a lot of buzz with the addition of its supercar, the Acura NSX.

Curious about some of the earlier Acura vehicles? The Acura Legend and the Acura Integra were the first vehicles sold by the then-new brand in 1986. The Legend was a sedan and the Integra was originally sold as a hatchback, but both vehicle made history thanks to their top-notch performance features.

Where are Acura Vehicles Made?

Now that we know that Acura is made by Honda, let’s talk about where Acura vehicles are made. Most of the Acura models, including the ILX, TLX, RDX, and MDX, are produced right here in North America. Ohio is actually where the Acura brand has its roots. In fact, the Marysville plant has the largest production capacity when compared to the other four locations throughout the state. You will find the other Acura plants in Russells Point, East Liberty, and Anna, Ohio.

The Acura ILX and Acura TLX luxury cars are produced at the Marysville plant. The East Liberty plant is responsible for the Acura RDX and Acura MDX luxury SUVs. Engines and drivetrain components are created at the Anna, Ohio location, while the Russells Point manufacturing plant is where transmissions and related components are produced. Here, the Acura four-wheel drive systems are created as well.

Marysville is where you’ll find the Acura performance manufacturing center. This production facility is home to the stunning Acura NSX supercar.
