Leather Seat Care: Materials

First, you’ll need to gather the following materials from your garage or a local Providence auto parts shop:

  • Vacuum
  • Microfiber Towels
  • Leather Cleaning Agent
  • Soft-Bristled Brush
  • Leather Conditioning Agent
  • Sponge

Step-By-Step: How to Clean Leather Car Seats

1. Clear and Wipe Seat Leather
The first step to leather seat care is to remove any dust, dirt, or trash with your hands or a vacuum. When your Acura’s leather seats are free of all debris, wipe them down with a microfiber cloth sprayed with the leather cleaning agent. Be sure to get any last particles of dirt or debris by wiping with the cloth in a slow circular motion.

2. Brush and Clean
Now that you have a good layer of leather cleaning agent on your leather seats, you can begin to gently brush the leather with your bristled brush. The brush will allow any deeper dust and debris to break free and come to the surface. After brushing, again wipe away any particles with your microfiber cloth.

3. Condition Your Leather Seats
Applying conditioning agent to your Acura leather to lock in the cleaning agent and allow the absorption to remedy the texture is the last step of leather seat care. Apply a small amount of leather conditioner to your sponge or cloth, and again wipe your seats in a circular motion. Remember that too much conditioner can leave your leather seats greasy, so use just the right amount. Also, be sure to park your car in the garage or in the shade for at least an hour so the conditioner can set without the interference of UV light.
