Acura’s New Race Car

The Acura NSX was named Business Insider’s Car of the Year of 2016, and the automaker showcased its new GT3 model at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show and the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. It comes with some significant upgrades, like scrapping the car’s previous hybrid-electric powertrain for a turbocharged 3.5L V6 machine and three electric motors. Rear-wheel drive replaces the all-wheel drive system, and the transmission shifts from nine gears to six. This race-car version of the NSX optimizes aerodynamics thanks to its distinct body that expertly directs airflow, and it will hit the tracks at the Rolex 24 in Daytona, Florida.

Acura Virtual Reality Simulator

Interested to know what it feels like to get behind the wheel of Acura’s NSX race car? The automaker featured a virtual reality simulator at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show so that visitors could take a test drive on a virtual course. The program allowed you to use your hands as though you were driving, and interact with screens as you would if you were actually behind the wheel.

At the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, Acura showcased the latest versions of the ILX, MDX, NSX, RDX, RLX, and TLX. Of these, the 2017 Acura MDX was named a finalist by the Midwest Automotive Media Association as it sought out its 2017 Family Vehicle of the Year accolade.
